About Mr. Lindstrom

Hello, my name is Mr. Michael Lindstrom and I will be your child’s sixth grade science, and social studies teacher. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a lifetime Lockport resident and I went to Milne and Kelvin Grove. I also graduated from Lockport. I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of St. Francis and I received my Masters Degree in Education Administration from Governors State. This is my fifteenth year teaching at Kelvin Grove. Before I taught at Kelvin Grove I was a substitute teacher for two years in Romeoville. Along with teaching at Kelvin Grove I also coach seventh grade boy’s basketball and sponsor the Science Club. I have been married for over thirteen years to my wife Jodie. We have three wonderful children, Andrew, Matthew, and Kylie. I spent most of my summer hanging out with my family, playing in the yard with our dogs Rey and Leia, and going to Wisconsin. I hope you and your child have a wonderful school year this year. I know I am looking forward to it.
Sixth grade science is a fun and exciting class where we do a lot of experiments and activities to help your child learn about the wonderful world of physical science. The third trimester is the most exciting because the students will be constructing bridges, roller coasters and assigned the fourth quarter science project. First and second trimesters the students learn about chemistry and we will be conducting chemical reactions and doing other fun experiments throughout the school year. Science grades are based on homework/in class work, test, and projects. In class work is between ten through sixty points, and projects and labs are between fifty to two hundred points. Along with learning physical science your child will be learning how to work in a group atmosphere and read a nonfiction online textbook through reading strategies.
This is my sixth year teaching Social Studies, and I am very excited to go on this journey into the past with your child. We will be covering geography for the first part of the year. The ancient civilizations we will be discovering are Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. My grading we be based on in class assignments, test, and projects, really similar to grading in science. There will be several projects throughout the year where students will have to research and make a model or poster and give a presentation. We will also be working on a research paper later in the year. |
